Match Report
Match Report - 20 Mar 2011, Maclay Football Club Red beat Hemel Town White
Two goals each from Maclay strikers Robert Prunty and James Manners plus some resolute defending from the rest of the team ensured that Maclay stay on top of WHYL U15 Division 1 on goal difference.
ROBERT PRUNTY opened the scoring for Maclay after 20 seconds but Hemel fought back well and attacked strongly for most of the half. Maclay held firm and when ROBERT PRUNTY added a second after 32 minutes the score slightly flattered the league leaders. Hemel started the 2nd half well and pulled back a goal from the penalty spot after 2 minutes. Maclay kept winning tackles as Hemel surged forward relentlessly but two fine break away goals from top scorer JAMES MANNERS in the 50th and 80th minutes made sure of the points. Goalkeeper JAMES LAGDON deservedly won Man of the Match, although Robin Niven's effervescent performance alongside the hard working Jack Wiggs in central midfield made him a worthy runner up. Chris Humber's return to form on the left wing was great to see.
