Match Report - 08 May 2011, Maclay Football Club Red beat Echoes
This was a very tough match for Maclay Red who came out on top despite a spirited and impressive performance by Echoes. Echoes nearly scored in the opening exchange but Robert Prunty fired Maclay into the lead after 90 seconds with a fierce drive from outside the box. Maclay created a number of chances in the opening 20 minutes but the 2nd goal came from a Callum Miles penalty in the 21st minute after an Echoes player handled the ball on the line to stop a certain goal. Unfortunately for Echoes this resulted in a red card for the player involved and Echoes being reduced to 10 men. As so often happens, Echoes 10 men immediately raised their game and got a goal back 5 minutes before half time.
The second half was hard fought from beginning to end but Man of the Match, Edward Butler-Caddle headed in a fine goal in the 55th minute for only his 2nd goal of the season to seal the victory and the title for Maclay.
