Match Report - 16 Sep 2012, Maclay Football Club White lost to Prestwood Colts
The score line today did not reflect the performance. Prestwood were a Division 1 team last year, they probably deserved the victory overall but the score could certainly have been closer. First game of the season we were perhaps a little rusty.
Having made some calls to a few agents we made some last minute additions to the team, beating this weeks transfer deadline.
The three points today were 1. Keep the ball on the floor with sharp passing. When we did this we matched Prestwood. 2.The second was communication, clearly an area we need to improve on. 3. Thirdly when we moved the ball wide we out paced Prestwood and put their defence under pressure.
Starting from th back we looked solid in goal, he made some great saves. We must learn to capatilise with the huge kick he has. The defence looked solid. Prestwood pounced on minor errors. The midfield and wings worked hard. Upfront Pat and Okemdi had several good opportunities. A marginally off side goal from Okemdi could have turned the match the other way.
Performance of note were from Jack , Henry, Josh Lee, Chris, Okemdi and Karl. Man of the match was taken by Okemdi whose pace and strength on the ball pipped it over the others. A goal always helps.
Well done a promising start to the season.
