Match Report - 24 Nov 2013, Maclay Football Club Red beat West Bletchley
This was an excellent match played in a sporting spirit by two good teams that wanted to play football. Maclay started well and were rewarded when West Blecthley scored an o.g. from a cross. Man of the Match ROBERT PRUNTY added a second a few minutes later when he chased down a long ball and put the ball past the keeper. Jack Wiggs was unlucky not to add a third when he hit woodwork just before half time.
The game was transformed after the break as West Bletchley quickly pulled goal back with a well struck shot and then started to dominate the match. They were rewarded twenty minutes from the end with an equaliser. Maclay keeper George Parker pulled off some fine saves to keep the team in the game.
Maclay raced back into the lead right at the beginning of extra time when ROBERT PRUNTY scored from the left. PRUNTY added a fourth to complete his hat trick after good work down the right from Matt Ashby. Maclay dominated the match for the next few minutes as the defence effectively snuffed out the West Bletchley attacks. West Bletchley scored a consolation goal a couple of minutes from the end.
The strength of the Maclay squad proved invaluable in this match as all sixteen players participated and reserve Bevan Gosling ran the line.
