Match Report - 08 Dec 2013, Maclay Football Club Red drew with Chalfont Saints Colts
This was a great match but ultimately frustrating for both teams as they denied each other the chance of earning three points in the chase to catch Aylesbury United at the top of the SBYL 1st Division.
ADAM COWLAND fired Maclay into the lead in the 7th minute but CSG came back strongly and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 32nd minute. CSG then took the lead 4 minutes later as Maclay were overrun by their midfield. Maclay immediately responded by introducing former captain Bevan Gosling into the centre of midfield but he was harshly booked for his first challenge less than a minute after he came on. The score was two one to CSG at the break.
Maclay came out all guns blazing after the break and were rewarded when JACK WIGGS equalised in the 68th minute when the Chalfont keeper failed to hold onto the ball. Maclay were surging forward looking for the lead when captaim Sam Hauck was dismissed for a second yellow card. This didn't stop the irrespresible ROBIN NIVEN from dancing through the CSG defence and putting his team into a 3-2 lead with 6 minutes to go. Just when it looked like ten man Maclay had clung onto the lead CSG capitalised on two defensive errors to level the game in the 92nd minute. Phew, what a game!
