Match Report - 27 Sep 2015, Maclay Football Club 2015 lost to Dinamo Chequers
Sunday 27th September 2015
Chesham Sunday League Premier Division at Cow Roast
Maclay 2 (1) v Dinamo Chequers 3 (1)
Scorers: Ian Ranger (8 min) & Dean Gavin (80 min)
This match demonstrated just how difficult the CSL Premier Division will be, especially with most of the gap year players who contributed so much last season now off to university. Despite playing well for large parts of this match Maclay were beaten by a team that defended well and broke forward quickly in numbers.
That being said, Maclay started brightly and were rewarded when IAN RANGER latched onto a rebound from Pat Hanlon’s free kick to open the scoring after 8 minutes. Unfortunately Dinamo scored from a corner a few minutes later to level the match at one all.
Maclay started the second half determined to push on and gain all three points but a low, hard shot from outside the box put Dinamo into the lead in the 52nd minute. Ten minutes later Dinamo added a third goal after a good run down their left wing.
Maclay had been playing well but suddenly found themselves two goals behind with half an hour to go. Last season’s top scorer, DEAN GAVIN pulled a goal back with a well taken header from Ian Ranger’s cross with ten minutes left but without the trickery of Hijjawi or the power of Prunty on the flanks, Maclay were unable to get the equalising goal.
Salih Hodja narrowly pipped Yusef Seodi to man of the match for a fine performance at right back where he defended well but also surged forward as often as possible.
Squad: C Young, L Kent, C O’Connor, D Hay, B O'Connor, S Hodja, P Hay (capt), I Ranger, N Holzmann, T Dyke, P Hanlon, Y Seodi, D Rennison, D Gavin, M Dowsett & B Mulchrone (not used)
