Match Report - 14 Mar 2010, Maclay Football Club White drew with Tring Tornadoes
Maclay White the draw specialists delivered another inspiring performance on a windy and uneven surface.
The first half and wind with Maclay saw them go a goal down inside a minute. Tring looked strong at the start of the match but fairly quickly Maclay began to play the style of football they have played all season. In a goal mouth scramble Josh Roberts volleyed the ball into the top corner from 10 yards out. This was quickly followed by a second. Henry struck a free kick from 25 yards and the goalie could only parry, Dominic followed in for an easy goal. Then came the third. Henry driving the ball into the bottom corner from 25 yards out giving the keeper no chance. Half time and 3-1 up, we all knew with the strong wind were would have to battle hard.
Following a few changes Maclay continued to battle well, with Henry, Karl and Matthew chasing every ball. The defence was as we expected under constant pressure. A second goal followed from Tring giving William no chance in goal.
Maclay couldn't quite hold out for the full game and a third goal went in 5 minutes before time. Alex played well at the back keeping his head and carrying the ball out of defence and pressuring the midfield. Dom, Ethan and Josh Wilton looked to have the beating of the defence but the uneven pitch made it difficult to strike the ball cleanly. At full time Tring were lucky to have evened the game up. Man of the match went to Alex Moss for his solid display in defence.
