Match Report - 07 Mar 2010, Maclay Football Club White drew with Nascot Wood
Game two 1-1
Going into the second game, pep talks from David Hopkins and Ant Critchfield cheered the boys up. Out they went. Ethan Mackie stepped up to be the goalie in this segment of the game. Maclay again started well. Josh Roberts scoring a quick goal with a good strike from outside the box that the keeper should really have held onto. The ball again dribbled over the line to give Maclay the lead. Nascot’s keeper who had wasted kick after kick then made up for his error as he launched a huge goal kick that with one looping bounce dipped under the bar to leave Ethan with no chance. Nascot went wild. Tough decisions had to be made. Maclay could not afford to lose and a strong team stayed on for the second half. Alex Moss who had been steady and reliable in defence took up the challenge and as team captain volunteered to go into goal for the second half. Maclay then spent the next 20 minutes camped in the Nascot half. The boys from both teams fought fiercely and competed for every ball. Ethan Mackie took a role up front and added a fresh set of legs to the attack. The ball wouldn’t go in as Nascot defended resolutely.
The final outcome 1-1. We were proud of the boys again for their determination and I am sure things will turn around.
