Match Report - 02 Oct 2011, Maclay Football Club White beat Delaford Colts
Another solid performance from Maclay White. We were missing the mud and driving rain and had record breaking temperatures instead. Delaford had push Maclay White close two weeks ago and again they played some attractive football. Maclay made the early breaks with a well taken goal from Pat and a superb lob from the edge of the box by Brad to chip the keeper. Stand in goalkeeper Joey looked comfortable in goal, particularly with a back four that continued their excellent start to the season. Stan and David have impressed all season and formed the backbone from which the team has formulated its play.
The midfield battled well and Karl made some excellent runs down the right wing. Half time saw a deserved lead of two nil. The second half started brightly and a thumping goal from Pat low into the right corner following an excellent kick from Ethan. Delaford struck back quickly with an first-rate strike into the top corner.
Ethan had now taken over the role of keeper and at 6'3" he was and looked a commanding presence. I don't recall an error from him. Goal four was the goal of the game, breaking from right back, Hoppy to Karl on the wing cut back to Josh, with a neat pass to Brad who struck the ball precisely into the goal. We will forget about Delaford's second goal, but it would have been easier to wake up Snow White as the whole team took a thirty second snooze. The end of the game was in sight; boys were tiring and as Ethan made an excellent point blank save to ensure victory. Pat battled his way to his second hat trick of the season and a well deserved Man of the Match award.
An excellent game of football. Well done
