Match Report

Match Report - 07 Oct 2012, Maclay Football Club Red beat Penn & Tylers Green

It's good to be home! Maclay's first home match of the season coincided with their best performance. Penn & Tylers Green were missing key players but started the game very strongly. Maclay gradually imposed themselves on the match and missed three or four good chances before top scorer MATT ASHBY opened the scoring in the 35th minute. ROBIN NIVEN made it two nil four minutes later when he fired in a great shot from the left hand side of the box. The score remained two nil at the break.

Maclay played really well in the second half and created chance after chance, especially in a seven minute spell that gave them four goals. First JACK WIGGS headed in to make it three nil in the 58th minute, then MATT ASHBY made it four on the hour mark. CALLUM MILES and ROBIN NIVEN then added another two goals in quick succession. The final three goals came in the last eleven minutes as MATT ASHBY, JAMES MANNERS and Man of the Match ROBIN NIVEN all added to the scoring.

This was a Maclay performance reminiscent of last season's title winning best but Penn & Tylers Green contributed far more than the scoreline suggests and their manager should be proud of them.
