Match Report

Match Report - 10 Apr 2013, Maclay Football Club Red beat Amersham Town

This match was a mass of contradictions - Amersham dominated for half an hour but got nothing from the match. The three nil win lifted Maclay two places up the league but on the downside Joshua Lee broke his wrist in three places, Robert Prunty was taken to hospital with a gash in the back of his head and Calum Alexander came off in the 40th minute with a knee injury - PHEW!

The introduction of the ever popular Nick Williams for Calum Alexander bolstered up the midfield and allowed Tom Dyke to shine as stand in right back. After missing four of five good chances in a goalless first half Man of the Match ROBIN NIVEN grabbed a brace after the break with his pace and effective finishing. JOSHUA LEE added the third after some good work from Matt Ashby.

From that point on the injuries meant that Maclay had to dig deep to see out the game and boy, did they do that. The makeshift back four excelled with great support from midfield. This match may have started badly but injuries apart it ended up as a real triumph for the Maclay team.
