Match Report - 16 Nov 2014, Maclay Football Club 2015 beat Trix
This was the match of the season so far. Trix came into the match undefeated at the top of the High Wycombe 3rd Division while Maclay were top of the Chesham 1st Division. Something had to give...
Maclay started really well and created a number of chances before being caught on the break in the 17th minute. 1-0 to Trix after a good finish. Trix started to impose themselves more on the game after they took the lead and were rewarded with two quick goals in the 32nd and 34th minute. Both goals were really well taken. This season's County Cup campaign looked over for Maclay at that point but things were to change after the break.
Maclay made three substitutions at half time and moved Ben O'Connor back into midfield for the first time this season. They were immediately rewarded when SAIF HIJJAWI headed in a good goal within a minute of the restart to remind Trix that would not have it all their own way in this match.
Maclay gradually played their way back into the game and started to mount more and more attacks. Man of the Match, BEVAN GOSLING was on hand to make it 2-3 in the 75th minute when he slotted the ball home very coolly from the six yard line. Game on. Maclay now realised that they were well and truly back in the game but Trix held firm for the next ten minutes or so.
Just as it looked like Maclay would win the half but not the match, IAN RANGER, a link to the great Maclay teams of the 1990's popped up in the box and equalised with a characteristic precision shot. Extra time seemed inevitable but ROBERT PRUNTY had other ideas. Prunty cut in from the right and hammered the ball home in the last minute of the match. 4-3 to Maclay. What a great match!
